Virtual Reality for your feetVirtual Reality has so far mostly involved sticking your head in a hardware device and pressing buttons to move around. We aim to improve on that. The most intuitive way to move around any environment of course is simply to walk, but that requires hardware to bridge between the real world and the virtual.
So, we asked the question: What would the perfect virtual reality walking machine look like?
The VR Walker is how we are answering that question.
Rather than taking the same approach as other locomotion hardware interface systems, which are all some form of treadmill, the VR Walker is essentially a pair of shoes. It prevents you from moving, whilst allowing you to perform a normal walking motion in any direction. It's small, portable, relatively simple to manufacture and affordable. It aims to be the first truly consumer-ready walking machine for intuitive navigation of virtual environments. Read more ... |
